ecojenda.com

Ecojenda is dedicated to promoting the cause for conservation of our heritage, especially the glorious landscapes and plant life we are fortunate to still enjoy in this country. Our appreciation inspires us to create textile and photographic art that we hope will draw attention to the importance of preserving our inheritance for future generations.

EAST TO WEST TO NESS
George Forrest collected plants and seeds from China. The plants were dried and used kept as botanical specimens in Herbaria for identification and reference, while the seeds were used as stock from which subscribers, nurserymen and gardeners could try and grow seedlings. George Forrest collected botanical specimens too, these flourished and quickly established themselves as some of our modern day favourite plants.

In 1904 he made his first trip to China and was sponsored by the Liverpool cotton merchant Arthur Kilpin Bulley, famous as the founder of Ness Botanic Gardens. As we celebrate the centenary of his various journeys to bring back rare seeds and plants to this country Pauline, Hilary and Jenny are staging a series of exhibitions to commemorate George Forrest's achievements.
